Jackie: The Clothes of Camelot Vassar Writer Jay Mulvaney Gives Third Annual Scholarship Benefit Lecture
On September 13, 2002, our Third Annual Scholarship Lecture
featured a presentation by two-time Emmy Award
winning writer and producer, Jay Mulvaney, '77. Mr. Mulvaney is the author of
three books he refers to as his "Bouvier Triptych" in honor of Jacqueline Lee
Bouvier, who entered Vassar in the fall of 1947. The Triptych includes
Jackie: The Clothes of Camelot; Kennedy Weddings: A Family Album; and his
current release Diana and Jackie: Maidens, Mothers, Myths.
A two-time Emmy Award winning writer and producer, Mr. Mulvaney has also created shows that have won the Peabody, DuPont, CableAce, National Education Association and Parentsí Choice Awards. He was executive producer of Kennedy Weddings, a "Weddings of a Lifetime" special for Lifetime TV, and has worked as an executive at CBS, Nickelodeon, VH1 and Discovery.
Mr. Mulvaney's appearance was designed to coordinate with the Corcoran Gallery's current exhibition Jacqueline Kennedy: The White House Years. Noted by Us Magazine critics as "clever, witty and informative," he captures the glamour, imagination and intelligence underlying the extraordinary style of his subjects. The presentation will include a slide show featuring both classic and rarely viewed images, and a book signing.
